Fighting for change with UN Women
Unsilenced series for UN Women launch.
The biggest project we’ve ever worked on has now gone live. We began working on the Unsilenced: Stories of Survival, Hope and Activism series for UN Women back in March 2023 and it’s been a HUGE effort from our team to get this project made but also hugely rewarding as our work has helped to drive change for women all over the world.
Unsilenced: Stories of survival, hope and activism.
We started work on the Unsilenced series for UN Women back in March 2023 and while we knew it was going to be a powerful campaign, we had no idea how humbling an experience it would be.
The project is made up of three main global films which highlight UN Women’s three End Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) portfolios; Prevention, Essential Services and the Spotlight Initiative.
The films centre around interviews with 16 women, all survivors of violence, who share their experiences while explaining how they’ve been impacted by UN Women’s EVAWG work. Each contributor is from a different country which saw us coordinating filming in 16 countries; Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Nigeria, Timor-Leste, Argentina, Ecuador, Serbia, Vietnam, Solomon Islands, Mali, Bangladesh, Fiji, Mexico, Uganda, Albania, Morocco and Palestine.
The powerful testimonies from our contributors have received worldwide attention with international stars such as Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and TV sporting legend Marion Reimers offering their voices to the campaigns to increase their reach even further.
A Year in the Making.
This project was so long in the making due to the continued magnitude of violence against women and children worldwide which meant we had to work with the UN to ensure that we captured lots of different testimonials to show both commonalities and differences in experiences across the globe. When dealing with people’s real-life experiences, the correct time and care must be taken to do justice to their stories making the best film possible to ensure the biggest impact.
All three episodes of the series are now available on UN Women’s YouTube channel here. You can find out more about UN Women and how to join the movement to end violence against women and girls here.
